As an expert witness in the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, Paul is reporting on the architectural design in relation to the refurbishment of Grenfell Tower, including: the choice of materials; the development of the design; compliance with legislation and regulations; and the quality of the workmanship.

Paul Hyett’s experience in the field of sports and entertainment projects has been gained over the last fifteen years during which time he has worked on major projects in the UK, France, Spain, Russia, the Middle East, China and Australia. Projects have comprised both new-build and major re-working and expansion of existing facilities. These have included stadiums for soccer and rugby football, cricket, Australian Rules Football and multi-purpose arenas designed to host both sporting and non-sports events. Genres have ranged from major club facilities to national state-owned venues. In parallel Paul has led teams that have conducted technical reviews of both existing and proposed facilities for national associations and sporting federations.

Committed to teamwork, Paul believes in the closest possible collaboration with clients in the formulation of project briefs, design and delivery. Hyett is also an experienced forensics architect who has investigated and reported on major building failures in terms of basic design and technical problems as well as code compliance. Such issues are critical to the delivery of safe and functional sporting venues and this experience informs all aspects of Paul’s work at both design and delivery stages of projects. An experienced conference chair and speaker, Hyett is a past President of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
